Georgian family home in Islington with an exposed brick façade and a back garden. The request for this project was to create a low maintenance garden with privacy.

To respect the building’s history we used reclaimed York stone for the pavement in the central area. The back garden faces new-built terraced homes so pleached evergreen oak trees were planted as a privacy barrier. On the sunny right hand side of the garden olive trees with box hedges were planted, and evergreen jasmine on the opposite wall dividing the house with the neighbours. The back terrace’s wall was covered by climbing plants, and pots with red Japanese acer and ferns were placed in the corners to contrast with the greenery.
